This screenshot shows the FFXIV Data Center Selection screen in Final Fantasy XIV. Data centers are organized geographically into four regions: North America, Europe, Japan, and Oceania. Each region contains one or more logical data centers that contain the individual Worlds, commonly referred to as servers, where player characters reside.

The North American region includes the Aether, Crystal, Dynamis, and Primal data centers. Europe includes Chaos and Light, while the Japanese region includes Elemental, Gaia, Mana, and Meteor. The Oceanian region is represented by the Materia data center.

Final Fantasy XIV recommends selecting a data center appropriate for the player's geographic region, as physical proximity can contribute to smoother gameplay. Players may also choose a particular data center because friends or an existing character are located on one of its Worlds. After selecting a data center, the interface displays the Worlds associated with that data center.
